Colouring Crown
The Colouring Crown is the simplest and most customizable option. All you need are some crayons, markers, or coloured pencils. Cut your crown template out of plain paper and let your child colour the template however they like. If they like a bit more direction use colouring pages or patterned paper to cut out the crown template. This idea is perfect for younger children who enjoy colouring and want to add their personal touch to their crown. Plus, it’s mess-free and easy to clean up.
Stickers and Stamps Crown
For a quick and mess-free option, the Stickers and Stamps Crown is ideal. Gather any stickers or stamps you have on hand, and let your child decorate the crown template with their favourite designs. This is a great way to use up leftover craft supplies and allows your child to create a unique crown with minimal effort. It’s an excellent choice for parents who want a simple, engaging activity without the need for paint or glue.
Wrapping Paper Crown
To create a patterned crown, cut the template out of thicker style wrapping paper or use a glue stick, modpodge or tape to cover the crown with thinner style leftover wrapping paper to secure it in place. This idea is perfect for repurposing materials you already have at home, and it’s a fun way to give the crown a bright, colourful look. Your child can choose their favourite patterns or mix and match for a playful effect.
Stained Glass Cutout Crown
For a more creative project, try the Stained-Glass Cutouts Crown. Carefully cut out shapes from the crown template, then fill the spaces with colourful tissue paper or cellophane to create a stained-glass effect. This idea is a bit more involved but offers a beautiful, artistic result that kids will love. It’s an excellent option for children who enjoy detailed, hands-on projects, and it adds an extra touch of magic to their crown.
You could also use different textures such as feathers, aluminum foil or bubble wrap.
Nature Crown
Head out on a nature hunt to collect some small leaves and flowers to make a nature crown. If you have time you can dry out your collection first, or use a flower press or some heavy books to press them flat before adding to your crown. Glue your nature items to onto the crown, creating a unique and earthy design.
If you want to avoid the glue – you can also use clear contact instead.
- Cut out a rectangle of clear contact larger than the crown template. Peel off the backing, leaving the sticky side up
- Stick leaves, flowers etc. to the sticky surface
- Once complete, place another layer of contact on top, sticking it altogether
- Then place the crown template on to cut around the shape
