5 ways to make a fabric Christmas Crown
Simple Christmas Crown
A quick and easy festive craft for Christmas.
- Simply download our free crown template HERE.
- Print or trace out the design onto paper.
- Use this as a template to cut out your crown shape from your choice of fabric (or you can use thick wrapping paper too if you don’t sew)
- Felt, patterned or plain leatherette or glitter fabric is great as it is festive, easy to work with and doesn’t fray at the edges.
- Finish with a length of elastic sewn at each side to fit your required head size.
Add embellishments
Add to your simple crown with embellishments such as;
- Ribbon
- Trim
- Decorative Machine Stitching
- Cut out felt or glitter shapes – such as stars
- Sequins/Beads
- Motifs
Overlay
Place some decorative netting over your felt as an overlay, to create a decorative effect. Or underlay a different colour of felt or leatherette at the back to create a two tone effect.
Scrap Buster
The Christmas Crown pattern can also be used with your leftover Christmas fabric to create a scrap buster crown with leftover fabric you already have.
- Cut your fabric scraps into strips and lay across the crown template.
- Attach to a felt backing with Heat and Bond
- Sew together
Embroidery
If you love a bit of hand stitching, adding an embroidered letter or Christmas details such as stars is a fantastic way to personalise your crown.
